Davy Knowles has written & recorded an ‘anthem’ for the Commonwealth Youth Games 2011, which are being held on the Isle of Man this weekend (7th – 12th Sept). “Reach Higher” has been described as a ‘blues rock anthem that stays true to it’s Celtic roots.

As a guest at the Experience Hendrix gig at Doheny Blues Fest at Dana Point California, Davy was invited onstage for the encore to play ‘Red House’ with none other than Billy Cox, who was Hendrix’s bass player in Band of Gypsys (as well as later playing with Charlie Daniels Band, amongst others).

Recorded when Davy and the band were in Melbourne, Australia in 2009, the 12 track CD is taken from their performance at the East Brunswick Club. Accompanying Davy are PK on bass and Steven Barci on drums, alongwith keyboard player Ty Bailie. It was mastered and mixed by Dave Armstrong of DAM Studios Isle of Man, who also recorded the first Back Door Slam album “Roll Away”.

Davy has confirmed that he will close THE GARDEN PARTY music festival on the Isle of Man on July 2nd. Also featuring top bands such as The Heights, Uber Room, King Chiaullee, Anna Goldsmith, Truman Falls and a special performance by Planes Over Paris, the festival is set to be a great addition to the Island’s music scene.
